A statement of principles

Modern technology has put the opportunity to be a reporter, photographer or editor within the grasp of anyone who owns a computer.  Gone are the days when someone had to spend years in a journalism school.  No longer does an aspiring newsman have to serve an apprentice period to learn the trade.

Television has led the way for amateurs to take on the cloak of wisdom and spout their opinions on the world stage.  Someone who has never even conducted an interview steps to the forefront and becomes a self proclaimed experts on all subjects.  Unfortunately, most of the public either doesn't know or care.

We like to believe experience still counts.  And the CAM staff has plenty of that.

We make our modest entrance into the media field of the Chattanooga area that already has an array of talent.  The Times Free Press has veteran editors Tom Griscom and Lee Anderson managing a competent staff of writers and photographers.  John Wilson has been called the most able and trusted reporter of his generation in the area.  And Rick Igou is constantly on the move for fast breaking stories.

Our goal is not to competent or even try to match any of these.  We want to offer a different slant to what's happening and what our readers want to know.  We won't look for fast breaking news, or exposes that stimulate the imagination.  We want to focus on the events and people who do their work usually without notice.  They are the salt of the earth.

We are not interested in scoops that hurt unnecessarily.  We will follow the creed that it not only has to be true, but it has to be news

Our focus will be mainly on the business community, the lifeblood of any people.  Without it there is no progress.  We will try to be a guardian against government that does not foster the progress of business and the people they represent.

We are human and will make mistakes. There will be mistakes of the mind, not of the heart.  We hope you will welcome our efforts and give us your feedback.  We are only here to serve you.
