Hullander
offers business approach
to the
Hamilton Trustee’s office
Story by Pete Chaney
“I know what it’s like to sign the
front of a check, to balance the money and spend it
wisely.”
That’s the essential point of Bill
Hullander’s campaign to be elected Hamilton County
Trustee through the May 4 Republican primary.
There is no Democratic opponent. He was
successful in defeating incumbent Carl Levi and should
breeze through the August general election August 5.
He is offering 42 years of business
experience coupled with his work in public service which
began in 1998.
“The operating costs of the trustee
office will come down,” he declared.
“Through efficiency, we will be able to extend
the office hours for increased convenience of the
people.
“I want to see it an office where
people are proud to work, and where the people see a
pleasant, welcome attitude when they come in to conduct
business.
“I want to see smiles, not frowns.”
He is leaving the Hamilton County
Commission where he served to run for Hamilton County
Trustee
Emphasizing that the trustee is the
county’s banker, he declared he would make sure
collections were fair and money is invested wisely.
He said prompt payments for accounts due would be
made.
Four points of his campaign are:
1.
Extend office hours for increased convenience;
2.
Institute partial payment plans for property taxes;
3.
Lower operating costs
4.
Operate the office with highest standards and without
embarrassment.
He stressed that under present
management for the past eight years, operational costs
for the trustee office have increased 187 percent.
“The costs have got to come down,” he
declared.
“They won’t without a change in country trustee.
I will bring costs down while improving service.
This will be down by better management, and
giving employees an atmosphere they are proud to work
in.
“For the sake of our future, these
changes are needed.”
Hullander grew up in a business world.
His parents had a country store and a farm.
Early years were spent helping around the store
and working on the farm.
A total of 42 years in business
included working for A&H Carpet.
He began his own successful company as Hullco
Exteriors, which he sold a few years ago to his son
Matt.
It was 22 years ago he began a second
career serving the people.
For ten years he was on the Hamilton County Board
of Appeals.
And 16 years ago he was elected to the county commission
for District 9 where he continues to serve, leaving that
post to seek the trustee position.
He has been married for39 years to the
former Miss Linda Chambers.
The family includes, in addition to
son Matt and his wife Jenny, granddaughter Reese,
daughter Mandy Home and sister Barbara Rogers.
“I’ve never made a career of living
off a public job, appointive or elected,” candidate
Hullander explains.
“I had to work for my money.
The taxpayers work for theirs and deserve to be
treated accordingly.
“Efficiency through technology and a
good attitude of staff will make the difference in
operating costs and public service.
The voters of Hamilton County will be pleased and
proud of the trustee’s office I give them.
“I hope I will have their support in
the Republican Primary May 4.”
